Draw somthing you are thankful for. In this case, it's more like someONE I'm thankful for - my wonderful husband of 25 years, Doug.

EDM Challenges #41 and 42
Draw a landmark of your city. This is the Oral Roberts University Prayer Tower. It's probably the first thing people think of when they do think of Tulsa. It is visible from Highway 75 going north into town.

My First
I just finished my first piece of beaded tatting! It is the Take 5 Snowflake by Emma Crew . It is done in size 30 thread and ab blue seed beads. Size: 3 3/4" I have one question for myself- why was I afraid to add beads? I am a beadweaver as well, so I have PLENTY of beads on hand to practice and improve with.

EDM Challenge #186
Draw something you've always wanted. This is NOT for sympathy.....I have always wanted to walk without mechanical assistance. I walked and danced and did whatever I pretty much wanted for over 20 years, but it was with the assistance of full-length metal leg braces. I never walked barefoot, felt sand or grass between my toes, so I don't really miss it - I just would have liked to have experienced it.

Portrait Commision
Today was a slightly strange day art-wise. A neighbor girl came by asking me to draw a picture of her to use as an invitation to her birthday party. Portraits are NOT my stong point, but how could I turn down a nearly 10-year-old? I did my best and colored it with Prismacolor pencils...she was tickled, so I figure she is a satisfied customer (noooooo I didn't charge her). The odd thing is, her mouth really is that wide in her face!

Not a Sketch, but still Art
I don't have a sketch for today as the next EDM Challenge was to draw in a public place and I didn't have the was to do so. Instead I am sharing the first 3 doilies I have successfully tatted. Tatting is an old method of lacemaking using a shuttle and ball of thread to make loops and chains which end up making a design.
This is my first success. I don't know who created the pattern as I cannot remember where I found the pattern.
This is the second doily. Again I don't remember the pattern source.

EDM Challenge #34
Draw a Fall leaf....even though it has felt like fall the last couple of weeks, the leaves around here are still very green. These leaves make me feel like it really could be Fall (my favorite season).

EDM Challenge #32 and an Extra
This challenge was to draw something metallic. This is a keychain that was a gift from the hospital auxiliary I am a member of. Unfortunantly, it was drawn in a low light, but i still think it is shiny.
I have a very dear friend, Mary, who is just now discovering her inner artist at age 52! All her life she has been told she could do nothing, create nothing, etc. I have been helping her build up her self-asurance in the arts over the last 9 years or so. I got her started with rubber stamping, then collage. She was willing to let me share this - her first drawing - a doodle! Any comments will be forwarded to her.

EDM Challenge #31
My name is Carolyn and I am an artsupplyaholic.....
The challenge is to draw something you collect. I collect pens and other art supplies. I have more supplies than I really should, but I do use them --- eventually.
Keep your eyes open for a new blog - Doug (hubby) is also an artist, but not computer savvy at all so I am going to start a blog for him to share his work on.

EDM Challenge Catch-Up
I've been a bit lax lately with posting new pieces. All I can say, is sorry......the heat effefcts caused me to not be as creative, so sketches were as I could. We have air now that works (when they put in freon) and abnormal cooler temperatures, so I am arting like crazy!
Challenge #184 was to draw a bench outside. Since I had no access to such a thing, I did this pencil sketch from a photo.
Challenge #29 was draw something archetechtural. Once again this was done from a photo, this time in PITT pens.
Challenge #30 was to draw a chair or anything you felt like, so I did a 'Zentangle'-style doodle. someone on Everyday Matters mentioned them in context with ATCs (my other passion). I have doodled like this for years and never knew it was cool to do so. :-) Doug and I are both re-hooked on this art form! He was doing it in paint back in the 80's, but no one accepted it at the time. Go fig..... this is also PITT pens in sepia.

Heat Drain and Art
Unfortunately, I have finally surrendered to the heat. I have been so weakened, I have not been able to concentrate on art. Our air conditioner leaks out freon about every two days, but they fill it back up about every 4-5 days. Any further art will be very sporadic. I'll be taking advantage of fresh fillups.

Post 100 and EDM Challenge #26
I just noticed that I am almost ready to make my 100th post! In honor of that, everyone who posts a comment (even just to say 'hi') on the 100th post will be eligible for a drawing for a piece of art by me.
Today's Challenge was to draw anything I wanted, so I did a watercolor pencil sketch of an unusual red pansy photographed by a friend of mine.
