Draw a piece of fruit. Well, small problem - no fruit in the house. :( Luckily, the grocery store sale paper arrived in today's mail! I took this luscious slice of watermelon from their ad. This is done in watercolor pencils. I am now oficially in love with wc pencils and waterbrushes!!!!!

Arte e Pico Award
I was very surprised when Antonella of Quilling, Art and Expression gave me the Arte e Pico award. Antonella is one of my inspirations in quilling and becomeing an e-friend. I'm sorry I was so late in posting the award, but I have been having some difficulties lately. Thanks.
According to the rules, you have to pay it forward and follow the following steps:
1. Choose 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award based on creativity, design, interesting material, and overall contribution to the blogger community, regardless of the language.
2. Post the name of the author and a link to his or her blog so everyone can view it.
Nina - ninajohansson.se
Angie - Angie's Asylum
Drusilla - The Art of the Illustrated Rat
Cathy (Kate) - The Quicksilver Workaholic
Windsong - Journaling Hearts
3. Each award-winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award.
4. The award-winner and the presenter should post the link of the "Arte y Pico" blog so everyone will know the origin of this award. The "Arte y Pico" blog is written in Spanish, here is a link for the relatively good English translation.
5. Please post these rules!
I may be slow, but I followed the rules! lol

We're Moving! and EDM Challenge #21
We're moving!!!! Our apartment is slowing falling apart with non-stop leaks in the walls soaking our kitchen floor and livingroom carpet, black mold in the front room closet, and the bathroom wall collapsing. Add to that increasing drive-by shhoting and random gunshots at night, it's time to get the hell outta Dodge (so to speak). We have a chance to move back to Texas, so while we are in good enough shap to do so, we are taking my sister up on staying with her until we can find a place to live in Abeline.
What this means for the art is that I will still be doing my Everyday Matters Challenges, but I have had to pack my collaging images, so I will not be doing gluebook pages for now. I am keeping enough art supplies unpacked to take a break from packing with. :)
Anyway, enough of that - today's challenge is to draw something antique, vintage or old. This is a broken piece of vintage costume jewelry given to me to make recycled jewelry out of.

EDM Challenge #20
This was Draw something 'Dad'. I wasn't sure what to draw, but when i saw this fedora in a Father's Day ad, I figured it'd work. Unfortunately the brim turned out a bit wonky. But, it's drawn, it stays. that's the 'problem' with direct sketching with pens.

EDM Challenge #19
Draw something you have made. This is a work-in-progress of a Goddess doll. I still have beading to do, but the fabric pattern looked too fun not to try. This is done in Pitt pens with no preliminary sketch. I am trying to loosen up in my sketching again. I have been doing so much finished work I need to let myself loosen up in the sketch book.
I made the cross in a technique called tea bag folding. It originated in Holland with decorative pouches holding tea bags. Since we don't have things like that in the States, aretists create tiles that can be printed out and used in the technique.

EDM Challenge 181
This week's challenge is to draw a trashcan. Mine is a Christmas popcorn can I saved back to use as a trashcan in my studio.
Since I didn't have any photos of trashcans, I just chose the subject Dance for my gluepage.

Draw your favorite tool....these are my favorite sewing scissors. I use them for sewing, quilting and embroidery. They have teeny tiny tips and are extremely sharp, allowing me to get right up on the fabric to clip the thread. Once again done in Pitt pens.

EDM Challenge #13
This challenge was to draw your phone. This is rendered in Pitt pens. I'm surprise I did as well as I did since my arthritis is acting up. Maybe I'm learning to work past it finally.
You would think that as common as cell phones are, that it would be easy to find pictures of them. Guess again!

This was Draw your Glasses or Sunglasses. This was a pair I had lying around. The medium is Pitt pens and a gold RoseArt permanent marker. The one lens came out a bit wonky, but otherwise I am reasonably happy with it.

EDM Chalenge #10
This challenge is to draw your hand or hands. I did mine in a quick sketchy style this time. Partly for a different look and partly because I was short of time. I made myself a personal challenge when I started the EDM Challenges to do a sketch and collage a day, no matter what. I have managed to get this far despite 2 weeks of a broken air conditioner and a lack of energy.
Today, I went to the hospital (where I volunteer) for a meeting and was exhausted by the time I got home. I laid down for a quick nap and was woke up 3 hours later! But enough whine, I'm outta cheese!

EDM Challenge #9
This challenge was 'Draw a bit of Organized Chaos', so I took a SMALL piece of my art table. Doug (hubby) said I didn't include enough stuff, I told him I didn't have enough paper! I use the mini yellow pages as scrap paper for glueing and inking. Once it is gluey/sticky I tear off the page and have a fresh surface avaiable. The sketch is done in India Ink and Pitt Pens.
My gluepage is inspired by the prompt - I call it 'Clutter' because it represents the enormous amount of clutter in our lives and how it can overwhelm us.

Weekly Challenges - gluebook style
An e-friend of mine (and former member of Everyday Matters) suggested I post these as well. Each day when I do a challenge drawing, I also do a companion page on the same subject in a gluebook. From now on, when I post an EDM Challenge, I will also post the gluebok page.

EDM Challenge #6 and more art
Today's sketch is Draw your favorite well-loved object of childhood toy. My favorite object is any of my book collection. I wouldn't know what to do if I couldn't read. I prefer Fantasy and Science Fiction to most other genres.
These are the rest of my ink drawings. The flowers are done with Pitt pens in Sanguine and Sepia on colored paper.
