25 Motif Challenge - #7

This is Medallion Cross by Roger aka Freedman. It is the easiest and fastest motif I've done so far. I think it is a very feminie cross as it looks very flowery.

Candlewicking

For those of you who may not know, Candlewicking is a form of embroidery using a limited selection of stitches and special thread. Candlewicking was originally done with the thread used for candle wicks (thus the name) and only came in one color - natural (kind of an ecru or ivory). Today, you can buy specific thread in various country colors. The stitiches used are stem, satin, French knots, and daisy.

This first piece is just traditional candlewicking in two colors.

The next two were done the same way - I used permanent BIC markers to color the main image and then did the stitching as candlewicking. It definitely gives a different look to an old favorite.

25 Motif Challenge #5 / Another Doily Finished!

Well, I finally finished the doily from h*(l! It looks easy, and technically is, but every loop and chain has a different stich and picot count which means you have to keep a super close watch on the pattern. (unlike most patterns). I'm glad I did it, but I don't think I'll make it again.

25 Motif Challenge #4

I had a couple of minor problems, but I think it turned out pretty well in the end. This is Maple Leaf adapted by Tammy Rodgers. I have no idea who made the thread it was in a box of unmarked balls of thread I was given a few years ago. I *think* it's a size 20. (anyway, that's how I lable it )

Another Passion Heard From...

Another form of needlework I enjoy is traditional embroidery. This rose was hand-stitched to use in a wall-hanging, but it is still a UFO at this time.
