Happy World Card Making Day! CHALLENGE

Tracey at Fred, She Said is hosting a card making challenge to celebrate World Card Making Day. All you had to do is make a card using her designs. I started with her dahlia outline set and colored the flower parts and leaves with Inktense water-soluable pencils. I then used a freebie paper piercing pattern on a piece of her new pinstripe paper in peach. The flowers and leaves are folded for a dimensional effect and stacked for a further 3-d result. The brown and gold cardstock came from my stash and I antiqued the finished piece with brown dye ink applied with a stiff bristle brush.

Digital Tuesday Challenge #19

This week, Digital Tuesday Challenge is having a sketch challenge. I used a digi-stamp by Tracey Miller of Fred, She Said Designs that I colored with watercolor pencils, paper from Angel Stamps, quote from Hot Off the Press, and brass, fiber, and paper from my stash. Once again, this is a wall hanging.

Digital Tuesday Challenge

I am definitely back into my paper crafting. I discovered another great 'kick in the butt' blog over at Digital Tuesday Challenge. Their requirement is that you use a digi-stamp in your project. (A digi-stamp is what we used to call clip art, but it can be colored like a rubber stamped image).

This week's challenge is 'Christmas in July'. My image is a freebie by Dustin Pike that I got from her blog. The papers are from my stash. I colored two copies of the digi-stamp in watercolor pencils. I then cut out the hat, spoon and dress from one image. I used pop-dots to attach the cutouts in a 3d effect. The shiny hearts and frosting are done with colored laquer.

I Took the Challenge

Over at the wonderful blog site, Fred, She Said is a challenge I decided to take. The blog owner designs 'digi-stamps' that she sells for paper/digital crafting. She often has a special freebie for her readers. This time, she is offering a prize to the best rendition using the current freebie.

Despite having most of my paper crafting supplies still in storage from the move, I decided to take the challenge. The card below uses layering to accent the printed image. The light blue paper was from my stash as was the purple mulberry paper. I used watercolor pencils and a waterbrush to paint the image. I tore the edges and inked with ink pads to enhance the image. The message was from a metal sticker set.

EDM Challenge #34

Draw a Fall leaf....even though it has felt like fall the last couple of weeks, the leaves around here are still very green. These leaves make me feel like it really could be Fall (my favorite season).

Heat Drain and Art

Unfortunately, I have finally surrendered to the heat. I have been so weakened, I have not been able to concentrate on art. Our air conditioner leaks out freon about every two days, but they fill it back up about every 4-5 days. Any further art will be very sporadic. I'll be taking advantage of fresh fillups.

This is one of my babies - Button.

This is done in watercolor pencils.

Post 100 and EDM Challenge #26

I just noticed that I am almost ready to make my 100th post! In honor of that, everyone who posts a comment (even just to say 'hi') on the 100th post will be eligible for a drawing for a piece of art by me.

Today's Challenge was to draw anything I wanted, so I did a watercolor pencil sketch of an unusual red pansy photographed by a friend of mine.
