New Sketch

This is just a warm-up sketch to try and get my hands and eyes back in shape for drawing. I was quite pleased considering I haven't drawn since before last Thanksgiving.

New Sketches

These are a series of leaf studies I did working from one of my favorite pen & ink how-to books....DRAWING IN PEN & INK by Claudia Nice. I've been a bit lazy in keeping this blog updated. Hopefully, I'll have enough projects to keep the blog going.

Rattie Sketch

This little sweetie was drawn using a photo of a rat from the Dapper Rat, named Nimbus. I fell in love with his smile and had to try a sketch.

A Different Rodent

This little character is called "Hamtaro" from a Japanese cartoon of the same name. They are adorable!

I'm working on my pure pen & ink work again. I'm a bit shakey, but I'm going ahead and doing it anyway as it has always been one of my stronger media. This piece is a fan piece of the character Hector in the latest Castlevania video game. it is totally done in dip pens and India ink. I'm quite proud of this one. :)

Daily Sketches

The blog had a major hiccup last night and wouldn't let me upload images, so here are three to enjoy. The little mousie is a valentine wish. :)

Daily Sketch

Something a little different. I'm trying to learn a new style of illustration popular in Japanese comics (manga) called 'chibi'. The people and animals are drawn cuter than normal. I'll be sharing my progress as I learn. I hope you enjoy. :)

Back to the Sketching....

It's been a few months since I've been able to draw. I'm back to working in my daily sketchbook I started when I was a member of Everyday Matters. I am bound and determined to complete this sketchbook. I did this baby rat sketch on my birthday from a picture I found on the internet. He is just sooooo CUTE! That smile stole my heart.

We attended an comic book/sci-fi/etc based sketch club last night in Abilene and had a blast! We are definitely going back. I started this sketch during the session and finished it up today. It is done in BIC permanent marker. The reference was a Magic:the Gathering poster in the room. I think it has some promise.

EDM Challenges #44 & 44

Draw something china or ceramic. This is a pencil holder I made many a year ago. Amazingly it has survived both Doug and I and two moves.

Draw an animal. This is one of my 'babies', Curly Sue. She is what is know as a Rex, so she has curly fur instead of the usual sleek and smooth.

EDM Challenges #41 and 42

Draw a landmark of your city. This is the Oral Roberts University Prayer Tower. It's probably the first thing people think of when they do think of Tulsa. It is visible from Highway 75 going north into town.

Draw somthing you are thankful for. In this case, it's more like someONE I'm thankful for - my wonderful husband of 25 years, Doug.
