Some time ago, I posted a sketch here http://infinitevisons.blogspot.com/search/label/art%20doll of a fabric art doll I was working on. I finished the beadwork and wanted to show the finished product. I'm sorry for the blurry scan, but I do not have a digital camera and had to use my flatbed scanner.

Doily In-Progress

This is the center medallion of my current project. It is a doily called Loop-di-Loop Tatted Doily by Hartmut Hass. It is in the Old-Time Crochet magazine, Summer 2002. I downloaded a copy from FreePatterns.Com I accidentally made more rings than the pattern has, but I like the addition as the center seems to lie flatter. We'll see how it works out. It is done in HallowScream by LadyShuttleMaker. This project may take a while as I am working rather slowly due to seasonal changes. :(

Tatting Update

I've been very busy tatting small motifs to keep my hands flexible. I have discovered tatting is a great exercise for my arthritic hands. I try to do a little every day.

I just received my HallowScream thread from LadyShuttleMaker and will be very busy working it into a large doily to put my Halloween goodies on. For that reason, I thought I'd share some small things I've made recently.....

Simple Ten Ring Cross by Lenore English
http://www.geocities.com/tatt3r/cross_10rs.html?200810

Size 10 thread: 3" wide and 4" long

I was not very satisfied with this pattern. I had a lot of trouble attaching the chains to the ring picots and found the final result very blocky.

Dancing Snowflake by Darlene Polachic
Big Book of Tatting
Size 10 thread: 2 3/4" in diameter

This one was kinda fun and definitely simple. I'd like to try it in a size 20 and beads. :)

Jingle Bell Ornaments by Darlene Polachic
Big Book of Tatting
Size 20 hdt (by LadyShuttleMaker): 2 1/8" diameter

VERY SIMPLE but great for a fast work-up for my annual Blue Star Mother's Ornament Project. I need to make a BUNCH more.

This is the same ornament in a white size 10: 2 3/4" diameter. I randomly chose colors to show them off.

Goodies to share!

I just had to share some neat goodies I spoiled myself this month. The little brown things on the left of the picture are hand-made picot guides. (For you non-tatters - picots are tiny loops in tatting) I got them from Georgia Seitz http://www.georgiaseitz.com/ .

On the right is size 20 hand dyed thread by LadyShuttleMaker http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5071147 Compared to the standard crochet thread I have been using, these threads are almost decadent. :)

I have to spoil myself more often.....

ALSO, I won a thread give away over at CrazyKwilter's blog http://crazykwilter2.blogspot.com/ All-in-all, a good day!

EDM Challenges #44 & 44

Draw something china or ceramic. This is a pencil holder I made many a year ago. Amazingly it has survived both Doug and I and two moves.

Draw an animal. This is one of my 'babies', Curly Sue. She is what is know as a Rex, so she has curly fur instead of the usual sleek and smooth.
